If you have wp minify plugin enabled and install w3 total cache you could crash your site . And you will have a confusing error on the home page (error on line 14) . The only way to get your site back would be to log into your cpanel goto wp-contents and then plugins and delete the whole folder for w3 total cache and you may also need to delete some files in the wp-content folder like db.php (you it does not fix the prob).
This happened to me 5 times and all the help forums are worthless.
To avoid this happening . Disable and delete the wp minify plugin before install the w3 total cache plugin
