The curious case of memory over load and error 500 on managedns.org

A strong possiblity it was due to the site being redirected via cloudflare but cannot confirm. OR the code of the software on the site

Fatal error: Out of memory
Error 500
What could be the cause of these errors are they interlinked?

reply from tech support for the error

We have found that the website xx.com is continuously hitting the maximum allowed memory of 256 MB which causes 500 Internal server error. When we temporarily increased the limit to 512 MB for your website, the website loaded fine. We have reverted the limit to 256 MB since the shared hosting AUP does not allow us to allocate more than 256 MB memory to a single hosting account. In order to avoid the error, you may have to optimize the website and ensure it does not consume huge memory. Ideally, a website on shared hosting server does not consume more than 100 MB and rarely a website would consume 256 MB memory. Proper optimization of PHP code will ensure that the website will work fine.
