SUSE Linux 11.4 supplies HPLIP 3.11.3 and it does support your printer.

The HPLIP Automatic Installer
The Automatic Installer is known to work on the following Linux Distributions:
- SUSE Linux (11.3, 11.4)
- Fedora (14, 15)
- Ubuntu (8.04, 10.04, 10.10, 11.04, 11.10)
- Debian (5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.0.3, 5.0.4, 5.0.5, 5.0.6, 5.0.7, 5.0.8, 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2)
- Download the file to a convenient location (e.g., home directory or desktop, etc).
- Open a console/terminal and cd to the location where the installer was downloaded. (e.g., cd ~/Desktop)
- Type in and run this command: 'sh hplip-3.11.10.run'
