Seesmic for Android Updates

Greetings Team Seesmic Friends,

We wanted to give you a few updates, as we have many things going on, but excited about every one of them!

Seesmic for Android Updates

We've just released a minor update to our Seesmic for Android app that includes a variety of fixes and improvements, such as a new notification icon, and being able to jump to the top of the timeline. We've also added proxy support for advanced users that will allow potential integration with other services.

Updates should be notified on your android device, but you can get your updates from the Android App Market.

Here are the list of updates:

* Improvement to notifications (new icon, count of messages in icon and bug fixes)
* Tap on the top red bar to jump to the top of any timeline (with tutorial)
* Proxy support, on a per account basis (We'll have a separate post to go into more details about this)
* SSL support, on a per account basis
* User Interface fixes, including for Motorola Blur OS
* Added a setting to automatically launch the application at startup of the phone (Settings > Advanced)

Seesmic Desktop Platform Videos

In a few weeks the Seesmic platform will launch entirely driven by plugins: a chance to drive traffic and generate revenue to your service or site by integrating into Seesmic Desktop. Seesmic Platform creator Marco Kaiser explains how you can build a plugin and what they can do.

We've been getting great feedback on our announcement of the Seesmic Desktop Platform (SDP) and Seesmic for Windows Phone, as well as the upcoming release for the Seesmic Software Development Kit (SDK).

In assessing the impact on SDP, NextWeb posted their thoughts and some suggestions on a couple of things they would like to see. What are some of the features you would like to see? We'll have a place for those ideas very soon.

We're anticipating a lot of interest as we have hundreds of people that have signed up to be notified for the SDK release. Channel 9 sat down with Loic, Marco and Mathieu on our announcement for the Seesmic Desktop Platform and the Seesmic for Windows Phone. A little geek alert: there's a lot of technical questions discussed here, so you were warned.

Seesmic Supporting Twestival

Finally, we proud to be involved in this year's Twestival. If you are not familiar, Twestival is a one-day evening event held globally that brings the Twitter community to raise awareness and funds for a charitable cause. This Thursday, March 25th, Twestival 2010 will be held around the world and this year's organization is Concern Worldwide, which helps bring education to children in need.

Twestival is a prime example of utilizing the power of social media, to bring communities together for a great cause. To find your local Twestival (or Twitter Festival), you can do a search on their site: http://twestival.com/

Here is a message about Twestival from Her Majesty, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, who recently spoke at LeWeb
